Shri Rajiv Ranjan stands among the most distinguished legal luminaries of Jharkhand, known for his intellectual depth, impeccable integrity, and unwavering commitment to constitutional values. On 7th February2020, he was appointed as the XII Advocate General of the State of Jharkhand, a position of the highest legal responsibility and honour. Prior to this, he had also served the State with distinction as the Additional Advocate General, Jharkhand, from 6th September 2011 to 5th December 2012, contributing significantly to the development of legal jurisprudence and governance in the State.
Born on 29th December 1968, Shri Rajiv Ranjan received his early education from the esteemed D.A.V. Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shyamali, Ranchi, where he completed his Matriculation in 1984 and Intermediate in 1986, displaying academic brilliance from an early age. Hispursuit of academic excellence led him to Ramjas College, University of Delhi, where he earned his Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Chemistry in 1989, reflecting his strong analytical and scientific temperament.
Guided by a profound interest in law and justice, he subsequently pursued legal studies at the prestigious Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, completing his LL.B. in1993. Thereafter, in 1994, he enrolled as an Advocate with the Bihar State Bar Council (now Jharkhand), embarking upon a distinguished legal career marked by dedication, scholarship, and professional excellence.

He began his professional journey by working with the Senior Standing Counsel for the Central Government at the Patna High Court, Ranchi Bench, where he gained invaluable experience in handling complex and high-stakes matters involving governmental and constitutional issues.
He has since developed extensive expertise across a wide spectrum of legal domains, including Constitutional Law, Service Law, Labour Law, Company Law, as well as a variety of civil and criminal matters.
